I tried to make a reservation around 7pm but the website said there were no tables available. I called and the hostess said it was a 20 minute wait, so we drove over ands got there at 8:00, only to be told that they were fully committed for the evening, but if we wanted, we could sit in the lounge area. At first we were a little bummed, but sat at the lounge area just at the end of the bar. We had only been there for just a couple of minutes when a server, Trinette, greeted us and brought us water and asked of we were going to be getting food. She brought us menus right away. She was SO AWESOME! We were so happy we sat at the lounge because it was not crowded and much more quiet. Trinette was so attentive and the food was AMAZING. We had crab cakes and coconut shrimp to start, the wavy beef burger, macadamia nut crusted mahi mahi and the wasabi seared ahi. We also had a guava margarita and a pina colada with passion fruit. If you want a non alcoholic drink, we also had a juice blend drink that was amazing (orange/guava/pineapple) So, the moral of my story? Don’t be shy about sitting at the bar or in the lounge seating. The staff know you are there and they take care of you!

Husband had the nachos which were horrible. Stale chips. Sister had crab cakes that were not good at all. I had coconut shrimp that were good. Manager was intent on rushing us out after we asked if you could see the sunset. Was told over the phone they had sunset views. They don't.

Best food , fast service (take out) and very welcoming . We ordered clam chowder with Macadamia nut crusted mahi one plate and clam chowder was plenty for two. Next we ordered Ahi sandwich with delicious clam chowder it was plenty for two, so good Next we ordered The Cheese burger fries and the keke burger ! So good thank you! We will be back!

Always loved Brenekes.....the views of the ocean, the staff, the building, the ambiance......but er...the food. WTH? Got the nachos. Stale chips, chewy pulled pork, gawd awful salso. Ew. Coconut shrimp. Over cooked. Fried to the ugly level of yuck. Than the worst Mai Tai ever. Watered down. No taste. Little alcohol. Bad. Bad. Bad. Oh Brenekes ....I knew you when you were vibrant and proud of everything you did. So sad. Staff still very, very good. Just the opposite of what they serve. No mas!

After being barged out of the way - trying to take a sunset photo - by a staff member doing the same, I was dismayed to learn she was to be our server. Mmmm, customers come second when it’s about that photo! Food was OK. Brenneckes serves quality but in small measure. The reason for the poor review was the drink I ordered - a chilled vodka with a twist. What was served was a martini glass of water, not even chilled. I asked for it to be “fixed” and a few drops of vodka were added - with bad grace - to my glass. The shock was the check. $18 for the first failure, and a second charge for the parsimonious remedy. My mild complaint to the manager was met with “if you drank any of it, I have the right to charge you!” Mmmm again! How do you find out your drink is a disaster unless you sip it? Thankfully, logic and a flicker of fairness prevailed, and the “drink” was comped. The final irony was the tip. The “barge me out of the way” server asked me if I wanted to add a tip. She failed to point out that 20 percent had already been added. My comment that I was inclined to leave no tip was met with - gleefully - with “ if you read the menu, a 20 percent tip is automatically added!” Wow, do I feel dumb for patronizing what used to be a classy establishment under family ownership, that has now become cynical and avaricious.

I have always been a big fan of the coconut shrimp as the mango sauce was to die for. NOT any longer .... they changed the sauce and added jalapeno peppers saying that it made it more tropical! Really? In my opinion they took the best thing on the menu and made it the worst. I asked why they don't offer either dipping sauce. No response. I've always visited Brennecke's once or twice during my stay in Kauai. Sadly, not any more. So dissatisfied. Laura - Portland, OR

09/08/24 - My wife and I enjoyed the food, drinks and atmosphere. Brennecke's Beach Broiler is my kind of beach establishment with great views of the ocean. The service was great! Our server Cyndi was great and had no problem getting my Loco Moco changed to the way I wanted it. We will make sure to comeback and enjoy.

On 10/4/2024, my family of 4 visited Kauai and we're recommended to eat at Brennecke's after enjoying the Poʻipū Beach. We were immediately greeted by the Brennecke's staff and seated by the windows which had an amazing view of the beach. Chase was professional, friendly, and was extremely detailed about the menu, along with having recommendations of items to try. My wife accepted the recommendations and Chase was right, she enjoyed what Chase ordered and our family had an excellent meal at Brennecke's. It was a good portion and delicious food. The drinks were also excellent. We will definitely visit Brennecke's again and recommendations everyone to visit Brennecke's while in Kauai.

I am shocked. After three (3) DECADES of going to Brenneke's, tonight they served us drinks that were not only laking in flavor, but laking in alochol. Could not even taste it. Management said if we got replacemnents they would be the same. Didn't they use to be known for their great drinks.???? So there was no reason to stay and order dinner. We left and went to Keoki's Pradise and and a wonderful dinner with great drinks, as usual. So Disappointed in a long time favorite restaurant.

What is the point of a reservation if you are seated 40 min after and people without are seated beore. I get they may have been there for awhile, but stop taking reservations?? Food was just om. Chicken on nachos not good at all.
